When reach should come first
Reach is the priority when the opening itself prevents access. Train with your current equipment, check that the intended dumbbell and staff are equipped, and try the opening again. Training and staff progression are separate checks; a shop purchase needs a follow-up test.
Keep your next egg target modest. The purpose of a reach upgrade is to make another pickup accessible, not to force you immediately into the farthest exposed section. After reaching farther, test whether you can also return with that egg.

When return speed should come first
If you can collect the egg but arrive home with very little margin, improve the return before extending the route. Shorten the pickup or remove a detour first. Then evaluate a Speed upgrade against that same route.
Keep the destination and pickup count steady when comparing the trips. Reaching a farther egg after buying Speed changes the test: you no longer know whether the old trip became comfortable. Confirm the improvement on the old route, then expand it.

Consider Carry once you can repeat a single-pickup trip comfortably. Extra capacity is useful when you pass another suitable egg along a route you already finish comfortably. It is less useful when collecting the extra egg requires a large detour or brings you home at the last moment.
Count successful deliveries across several attempts rather than celebrating the largest load you once carried. A route with more pickups should earn its place in your routine through completed returns. When production deserves the Cash
Check animal placement before assuming you need a more expensive egg. Compare displayed earnings under the same active bonuses and make sure your chosen lineup is actually placed. You can then judge the production of the animals you already own.
Base upgrades and Rebirth are additional spending paths. Evaluate a base upgrade against your current earnings and the next collection purchase.
